Women's basketball opens 2011-12 slate at Rutgers-Camden Winter Invite

ABINGTON, Pa. - With a new head coach and just one returning player, the Penn State Abington women's basketball squad opens its season this weekend at the Rutgers-Camden Winter Invitational. The team plays Rosemont (0-1) tonight at 8 p.m. and Rutgers-Camden (1-0) tomorrow at 4 p.m.

Rick Leeman took over the program's reins this summer. An experienced AAU coach, Leeman has coached more than 100 players who have gone on to play basketball on the college level, including WNBA draft picks Michelle Campbell (Rutgers) and Sharnee Zoll (Virginia).

Junior G Trish Watson (Bensalem, Pa. / Conwell Egan) is the team's lone returner. She paced the team this past season with 16.1 ppg.

The Rosemont Ravens dropped their season opener, 80-51, at Eastern University on Nov. 15, despite 20 points from freshman F Elizabeth Coyle. Behind 29 points from senior F Brittany Turner, Rutgers-Camden defeated Keystone College, 70-55, at home on Nov. 15.
