Watson scores 19, but women's basketball falls to Rutgers-Camden

Box Score CAMDEN, N.J. - Junior G Trish Watson (Bensalem, Pa. / Conwell Egan) scored 19 points, including 3-9 from three-point range, but the Penn State Abington women's basketball team lost, 68-40, to host Rutgers-Camden in the second round of the Rutgers-Camden Winter Invitational.

The Scarlet Raptors raced out to a 20-0 lead in the game's first eight minutes. The Lions' sophomore F Jacyln Vandiver (Philadelphia, Pa.Archbishop Ryan) hit a three-pointer at the halftime buzzer to make the score 38-19. A layup by freshman G Kiera Kurtz  (Philadelphia, Pa. / Nazareth Academy) in the first minute of the second half pulled the Lions to within 17 but the team would not get any closer.

Freshmen F Bree Benedict (Jamison, Pa. / Central Bucks West) and Katie Schalck (Warminster, Pa. / William Tennent) tied with a team-high seven rebounds.

Watson was one of six women named to the Rutgers-Camden Winter Invitational all-tournament team. She scored 17 and 19 points in two games.

The women play at Philly Bible on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
