Penn State Abington Falls to Cazenovia College

The Penn State Abington women's basketball fell to visiting Cazenovia College 64-56 on Saturday afternoon in a North Eastern Athletic Conference matchup.

With the loss, Abington remain winless at 0-11 overall, while the Wildcats improve to 5-7, 4-1.

The Wildcats pulled out the victory after struggling to score during the opening of the first half. Abington jumped out to a ten point lead off of Trish Watson's jumper with 4:34 remaining.

Cazenovia began to crawl back into the game during the final minutes of the first stanza as the Wildcats took advantage of the defensive rebounds as Haley Zambito converted a three-pointer to spark a 10-0 run as Courtenay Chambers tied the game at 24 apiece off a layup with three seconds remaining in the first half.

Erin O'Malley later pushed the Wildcats into the lead on a layup and then a free-throw off a foul to make it 27-24 at the half.
During the opening of the second half it was a back-and-forth battle for the lead before the Wildcats held on to the lead and jumped out to a 10 point margin off of Megna McDermott's shot to make it 53-43 with 7:27 remaining in the game.

The Lady Lions refused to give up the fight and attempted a rally as Trish Watson forced a foul twice and made four consecutive free-throws from the line to narrow the deficit to four with 57 seconds on the clock.

Despite an attempt to tie the game, the Wildcats held on to the lead and clinched their fourth NEAC conference victory.
