Wells College Edges Abington in NEAC Conference Matchup

The Penn State Abington men's basketball team dropped a 79-67 decision to Wells College this afternoon in a NEAC Conference matchup.
The loss brings the Nittany Lions down to 4-2 in the conference and 7-10 overall, while Wells College improves 4-3 in the conference and 7-10 on the season.

Throughout the first half of the game, Abington stayed on Wells' toes throughout the half as the Nittay Lions made 11 points off of second chances and scored 20 points total in the paint during the first stanza. Wells College pulled out to five points ahead to end the first half with a 35-32 lead.

The second half showed the same intensity as Abington hoped to get a head start as Kyle Battell nailed a three-pointer to tie the game for the third time. Wells' College answered back with consecutive blocks and layups to jump ahead by five and finally broke away with 9:57 remaining on the clock as Dave Foltz hit both free throws on the line to extend the lead 58-48.

The Nittany Lions hoped to find its second wind but were finding difficulty penetrating through Wells' defense and could not find the net as they ended the game with a 79-67 loss.

Mike Marvin finished with 14 points and nine rebounds for Abington, while teammate Will Alton scored 17 points for the Nittany Lions.

Abington will travel on Tuesday to take on Lancaster Bible College for a 6 p.m. tip-off.
