The Penn State Abington women's basketball team was denied their first win of the season after falling 68-44 to Penn State Harrisburg on Sunday afternoon. Abington is now 0-17 on the season, while Harrisburg moves to 11-6 overall and 10-1 in the Conference, holding the number one spot in the South Division.
Jacylyn Vandiver led Abington with a double double, scoring 11 points, shooting 60% from the three, and crashing the board for 12 rebounds as teammate
Jessica Schmidt netted 10 points for the Lady Lions in the loss.
Harrisburg was too much for the Nittany Lions as they jumped out of the gate strong, scoring 20 points off turnovers to a 21-6 lead at the 9:14 mark of the first half. Abington mustered a few extra points before heading into the locker room with the score being in favor for Harrisburg 37-19.
The second half was no different despite Abington's attempt to cut the deficit with each possession; however Harrisburg answered back with more points to keep the margin out of reach for the remainder of the game.
Abington will return to action at 7 p.m. on Wednesday when it hosts the College of St. Elizabeth for a NEAC Conference match-up.
