Men’s Basketball Falls to Gallaudet in Tight Battle

Box Score
The Penn State Abington men's basketball team fell 95-90 to the Gallaudet University Bison Sunday afternoon on the road. With the loss, Abington falls to 8-15 in the season and 5-7 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference, while Gallaudet stays in second spot in the south division of the NEAC conference at 11-11, 8-5.

Two Nittany Lion players posted a double double through the game. Will Alton posted 24 points and 12 assists, going 10-for-12 from the stripe, as teammate Mike Marvin also contributed 24 points and grabbed 19 rebounds. Corey Curtis made three steals and netted nine points.

Gallaudet jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the opening minutes of the first half before Abington was able to shake off the jitters and finally catch up, as Marvin posted the layup at the 13:48 mark to trail the Bison by three. However, Gallaudet's 52.6% field shooting (20-for-38) was too much for the Nittany Lions as the Bison led 45-29 at the end of the stanza.

Despite Gallaudet leading 62-46 in the first six minutes of the second half, the Nittany Lions came out charging back into the game off a 9-0 run, as Corey Curtis posted the layup, cutting the deficit to 14 with ten minutes remaining.  After a back-and-forth battle on both ends of the court, Abington rallied back into the game during the final five minutes as Marvin netted four points to cut the deficit down to five but the Nittany Lions could not muster the opportunity to take the lead as time ran out.

Abington will return to action on Tuesday night as they host the 6 p.m. tip-off against Lancaster Bible in the Pink Zone breast cancer awareness game. Fans are encouraged to attend the game wearing pink to show the support in the fight against breast cancer.
