Crawling out of its painful four-game losing streak, the Penn State hammered away the Keuka College Storm with a 95-78 decision.
With the North Eastern Athletic Conference win Abington improves to 8-11 on the year and 5-5 in conference play. The loss stuns the Storm to 5-14 on the year and 5-7 in the NEAC.
Abington dominated every facet of the game, shooting 55.6% from the field on 35-for-63 shooting and 40% (8-for-20) from beyond the arc. Four Nittany Lions scored in double point fashion and led by as many as 21 points early in the second half, leading by double digits most of the way.
Will Alton led the Nittany Lions by having a huge impact, including a game-highs for points (22), assists (6) and was perfect (8-for-8) from the charity stripe.
Mike Marvin posted his 12
th double double of the year after chipping in 13 points and 13 rebounds with an assist.
In the first half, Abington led by as many as 17 on two separate occasions, including the 47-30 lead with less than two minutes remaining in the first stanza. Abington was powered by its two leaders,
Max Alton and freshman Marvin.
Max Alton led the way with 11 points and three assists while Marvin added nine points along with four rebounds and a steal.
Abington had a great performance from the field in the second stanza, going 16-for-29% (55.2%) from the field. The Nittany Lions defense held its opponent to just 17-for-42 (40.5%) from the field and 9-for-27 (33.3%) from the three-point land.
The Nittany Lions will travel to Penn State Berks on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. tip-off in NEAC Conference play.
