Keuka Outlasts Abington in NEAC Matchup

The Penn State Abington women's basketball team fell to the Keuka College Storm, 65-51, in a close battle on Sunday. The loss pushes the Lady Lions to 0-19 and 0-13 in the conference. Keuka improves to 12-5 overall and 10-3 in the conference trailing behind SUNYIT.

With the score, 17-17, the home team was held scoreless for the remainder of the first stanza, while Keuka scored 16 points to build a small lead.

The two teams played tight as Abington reduced the deficit to six in the opening of the second stanza. Ultimately, the six-point gap proved too much for the Lady Lions to overcome as Keuka overpowered the Lady Lions and put the game out of reach.

Jaclyn Vandiver and teammate Gabrielle Benedict both set the pace for the Lady Lions, putting in 13 points and grabbing five rebounds throughout the game.

Jessica Schmidt posted 10 points and grabbed collected seven rebounds. Trish Watson joined her teammates on the court after a short hiatus and contributed nine points, while also dishing out two assists.

Abington will resume play at 8 p.m. on Wednesday when they travel to Penn State Berks for the NEAC Conference matchup.
