Box Score ST. DAVID'S, Pa. - The Penn State Abington men's soccer squad suffered a tough defeat at the hands of the Eagles of Eastern University earlier this afternoon. In their final regular season match of the year, the Nittany Lions were outshot by a 22-8 margin, with the Blue and White only getting three shots on goal in the entire match.
The Eagles (13-3-1, 4-1-1 MAC) got their first two goals within the first 20 minutes of the match. The first came on a header by Jamie Bonner in the 15th minute before Mitch Osterhouse netted hist fifth goal of the season just five minutes later to put the Blue and White in an early 0-2 hole. James Carlin did his best to keep the Nittany Lions in the game, making eight saves total on the afternoon. However, the second half was more of the same for Penn State Abington, as the Eagles offense attacked relentlessly and netted three more goals. Josh Cirocco and J.D. Saracco score goals just one and two minutes into the second frame, and Bonner added his second of the day to close out the 5-0 scoreline.
With the loss, Penn State Abington closes the regular season with a 10-4-2 overall record and a 6-0-2 record in the NEAC Conference. Although the Nittany Lions kept their conference record unblemished with just two ties, it will be the Wildcats of SUNYIT who host the NEAC Conference Tournament on November 9th and 10th.
