Seven Goal Spurt Helps Penn State Abington Dominate Gallaudet

Five Nittany Lions tally in 30-shot effort

Box Score Washington, D.C. - The Penn State Abington women's soccer squad travelled to Gallaudet University earlier this afternoon for a NEAC conference match and came away with their fourth win of the season. The Nittany Lions used a seven-goal outburst to trounce the Bison and remain undefeated in conference play so far in 2013.

Sophomore midfielder Cindy Wade got things rolling for the Nittany Lions (4-1, 2-0 NEAC) with her third goal of the season at the 25:06 mark of the first half. The Blue and White got two more goals in the half from freshmen Kayla Nolan and Molly Wyman to take a 3-0 lead into halftime. Then, Wade got the second half started in a similar manner to the first, giving the Nittany Lions their fourth goal of the day and tying her for the team lead with four tallies on the year. Gallaudet (0-5-1, 0-2 NEAC) struggled to muster any offense on the afternoon against the relentless Penn State Abington attack. Gallaudet's senior goalkeeper Kara Gulvas put together a strong performance, making 12 total saves, but the Nittany Lions still managed to score three more times before the game ended. Junior Mallory Mugnier scored her third of the year, freshman Jacqueline Alexander chipped in with her fourth, and Nolan netted her second of the year to give the Nittany Lions a 7-0 win.

With the victory, Penn State stays unbeaten in North Eastern Conference play and will face their next test this coming Tuesday. The Nittany Lions will head to Baltimore to face off against Notre Dame University of Maryland at 4:00 pm. Be sure to keep checking abingtonsports.com for all your Nittany Lions athletics updates!
