Penn State Abington Takes Down Keuka College

Box Score Abington, Pa.- Four Nittany Lions scored in double figures as Penn State Abington (6-4, 3-1 NEAC) took down visiting Keuka College (4-7, 2-4 NEAC) 78-72 in NEAC play on Sunday afternoon.

Junior forward Avery Barnes led the way for the Nittany Lions with 21 points, including shooting 13 for 16 from the free-three line. Barnes also grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked four shots.

Mike Marvin posted his ninth double-double of the season, scoring 19 points and pulling down 10 boards. Nisiar Smith added 16 points and Max Alton chipped in 14 for the Nittany Lions.

Trevor Healey led the way for Keuka with 19 points. Jared Wagner added 14 points including shooting four for seven from beyond the arc.
Abington started the game on a 10-0 run in the first six minutes of play. Both teams struggled to score in the first half, combining to shoot 32-percent from the field.

At the 8:54 mark, Healey was called for both a personal and technical foul. Alton made both the free throws and Smith would tip home a rebound to extend the Abington lead to 23-12. Both teams would trade blows in the final five minutes of the half. Abington went into the locker room holding on to a slim 29-23 lead.

The intensity picked up in the second half and the game started to get very chippy. Keuka found its shooting stroke in the second half, shooting 53% from the field and 66% from 3-point land.

Abington held its largest lead at 13 just over five minutes into the second half. But the Storm would storm back shortly after.Tyler Hixon's layup at 11:10 capped a 10-1 run by the Storm and cut Abington's lead to four, 41-37.

For the remainder of the game, Keuka kept the Penn State lead in single digits. The Storm continued to chip away at the lead, but Abington always had an answer.

The second half of the contest was decided at the charity stripe. Barnes scored 19 of his 21 points in the second frame with 13 coming via the free-throw line. In all, Abington shot 27 of 34 from the line down the stretch.

Both teams scored 26 points in the paint and tied with a total of 39 rebounds.
