ABINGTON, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's volleyball team went 1-3 in the two day event, hosting six teams from the south region, of the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Volleyball Crossover.
The Nittany Lions are now 4-4 in the conference and 9-14 on the year in the four matches played this weekend.
Sophomore
Sam Amaro leads the Blue and White with 44 kills (3.38 kills per set) and 37 digs with three service aces, while teammate
Victoria Lohman collected 89 digs (6.36 digs per set) and nine aces in the 14 sets played. Sophomore
Rachel Bohl tallied 41 kills (2.93 kills per set) with four aces on the weekend.
The Nittany Lions started day one, needing a five-set match (22-25, 25-22, 25-12, 22-25, 15-6) to defeat the newly minted conference member, Penn College before falling to the undefeated team in the conference, Gallaudet University, in straight sets (25-8, 25-13, 25-14) to split the record on the first day.
Abington struggled to rebound from the tough loss as the Abington dropped its third match of the weekend to Lancaster Bible College, 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-22) on Saturday. The Blue and White looked to rebound in the final match of the crossover but came up short once again, this time to the rival Penn State Berks in straight sets (25-15, 25-19, 25-12) to close out Abington's first ever NEAC Crossover.
The Nittany Lions will look to find the winning ways as they travel to Morristown, N.J. on Wednesday, Oct. 8 as they take on the College of St. Elizabeth in NEAC Conference play. The first service is set for 7:00 p.m.
