Men’s Soccer Falls to No. 1 Seed Morrisville State, 1-0

Morrisville, N.Y. – Penn State Abington's magical run ended Saturday afternoon, as men's soccer were defeated by Morrisville State 1-0 in the NEAC Tournament semifinal game.

After beating No. 4 seed Wells College 1-0 one week ago, No. 5 seeded Abington had high aspirations Saturday against the Mustangs. Despite the loss, Abington gave Morrisville all they could handle.

Morrisville State would strike first in the seventh minute as Jamieson McKoy beat Dan Saint-Pol (Perkasie, Pa.) to give the Mustangs a 1-0 lead. Joe Sheehan had a beautiful cross into the box where McKoy one-touched the ball into the back of the cage.

Abington would head into the half down 1-0. The Nittany Lions outshot Morrisville 8-6 in the first half. Saint-Pol made two saves for Abington.

Dave Castellanos' team would continue to pressure Morrisville throughout the second half. Abington had numerous scoring chances, but Mustang goalkeeper Rob Larkin came up large in the final 45 minutes. Larkin made four saves in the second half to preserve the 1-0 shutout win.

Abington outshot Morrisville 16-15 for the game. Saint-Pol made two saves, while Andre Lynahping (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Gustavo Alegria (Long Island, N.Y.) picked up yellow cards in the game.

With the loss, Abington finishes the season 5-9-4 overall.
