GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Penn State Abington women's soccer team encountered a stout Arcadia University squad Tuesday night falling to the Knights by a 5-0 decision.
 
Abington trailed early in the contest as Arcadia took a 1-0 lead in the second minute. Arcadia's Jess Kelly sprung Karis Poore on a breakaway, and Poore deposited the ball behind Abington keeper Margaret Sheridan (Horsham, Pa.).
 
The Knights would extend their lead to 2-0 in the 12^th minute as Poore would collect her second goal of the game. She fired a shot from the right side of the box that went by Sheridan inside the left goal post.
 
In the 30^th minute, Arcadia would make it 3-0 off of a failed Abington clear. Kim Canfield gathered the ball from the top of the box and fired a shot past Sheridan inside the right goal post.
 
The Nittany Lions were outshot 22-1 for the half. Margaret Sheridan made seven saves through the first 45 minutes of play.
 
Arcadia would put the game out of reach in the 48^th minute as Jackie Glanfield netted her fourth goal of the season. The Knights would tack on a fifth goal in the 66^th minute to seal the victory.
 
Arcadia outshot Abington 31-2 for the game with 16 of those shots on target. Sheridan stopped 11 shots for the Nittany Lions. Elizabeth Jones (Philadelphia, Pa.) did pick up a yellow card in the match.
 
With the loss, Abington drops to 5-3 on the year (4-1 NEAC). They will travel to New York State this weekend to take on Cazenovia College this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Please visit abingtonsports.com for all the latest news on your Penn State Abington athletic teams.
