ABINGTON, Pa – Sophomore
Joel Klapper (Doylestown, Pa.) recorded his first goal of the year as the Penn State Abington men's soccer team took conference leader Keuka to double overtime and came away with a 1-1 draw, Saturday afternoon.
The Nittany Lions move to 6-6-2, and 4-4-2 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference, while Keuka moves to 11-0-2 and 8-0-2 in conference.
Klapper pushed up into the midfield for the match and proved to be a handful, as he placed five shots on goal, leading the Nittany Lions.
In the 20
th minute the sophomore opened his account when
Richard Domico (Langhorne, Pa.) passed into the box and Klapper slotted it home.
Right before halftime Keuka equalized when Wolfpack forward Ben Schreiber chipped a ball over the goalkeeper in the 41
st minute.
In a physical second half, both teams had chances but both goalkeepers held strong making crucial saves to force overtime, but neither team could find the back of the net.
Abington hosts Wells College tomorrow at noon in a critical NEAC match.
