Emily Kennedy (Montgomeryville, Pa.) helped the Abington women's soccer team come from behind to beat Penn College 2-1, Saturday afternoon
For the second year in a row, the Nittany Lions finish the season with 13 wins going 13-4 overall and 11-1 in conference. The Nittany Lions finish second in the NEAC behind Penn State Berks for the third year in a row.
The Nittany Lions honored seniors
Ashley Quenzer (Philadelphia, Pa.),
Desirae Holmes (Philadelphia, Pa.)
Victoria Parker (Philadelphia,Pa.) and
Mallory Mugnier (Glenside, Pa.) for their final game at Memorial Field.
With the brace, Kennedy finishes with 16 goals in the regular season, only one behind
Kayla Nolan's 2014 record of 17.
The Wildcats stunned the Nittany Lions early in the 14
th minute with a goal from Robyn Beddow to give Penn College the 1-0 lead.
The Nittany Lions answered in the 23
rd minute when Kennedy broke away near midfield and beat the keeper one-on-one with an easy finish.
Abington pressed in the second half and finally took the lead when
Mallory Mugnier crossed in from the left and found Kennedy at the far post for the go-ahead goal.
The Nittany Lions will wait till Saturday November 7
th, and face the winner of SUNY Poly and Penn College for the North Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament semifinal.
