WASHINGTON – Sophomores
Elizabeth Jones (Philadelphia, Pa.) and
Emily Kennedy (Montgomeryville, Pa.) both scored two goals as the Penn State Abington women's soccer team shut out Gallaudet 5-0 Saturday night.
The Nittany Lions improve to 3-2 for the year and get their first win in the North Eastern Athletic Conference, while Gallaudet falls to 2-7 and 1-2 in conference.
Kennedy contributed two goals and two assists on the evening while
Mallory Mugnier (Glenside, Pa.) chipped in a goal for her second of the season.
In the 15
th minute Kennedy sent a pass from the right wing into Jones for the first goal. Right before half in the 43
rd minute, Jones doubled the lead with her second goal, again assisted by Kennedy. In the second half Mugnier scored her goal in the 68
th minute of the match. Two goals from Kennedy only a minute apart (72
nd, 73
rd minute) put the game out of reach for the Bison.
The Nittany Lions continue their road trip when they travel to Wilson College tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.
