Women’s Basketball Stymied by Bryn Athyn 74-49

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's basketball team dropped its second straight game with a 74-49 loss to Bryn Athyn College on Saturday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions fall to 10-4 and 6-4 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference.

In the first period, Abington held a slim lead battling with Bryn Athyn. Five points from sophomore Brittany Keyes (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) helped the Nittany Lions, but Bryn Athyn still held a slight 18-16 lead at the end of the first quarter.

In the second period, a 10-0 run by Bryn Athyn and cold shooting from Abington maintained the Lions' commanding lead going into half.

The Nittany Lions came out firing in the second half with Keyes hitting a jump shot for the first points of the half.  Abington's comeback was slowed by foul trouble with Bryn Athyn getting to the line to hit six free throws for the period.

The Lions' defense dominated the fourth period to close out the Nittany Lions' hopes of a comeback. Bryn Athyn's defense only allowed 6-of-23 (26%) shooting from the floor.

Junior Madison Kimball (Jenkintown, Pa.) earned her fourth double-double of the season with 12 points and 15 rebounds.

The Nittany Lions will host NEAC leader Lancaster Bible College on Tuesday at 8:00 p.m.
