Greta Sheridan (Horsham, Pa.) headed in a the game winning goal off a corner kick as the Penn State Abington women's soccer team topped Morrisville state 2-1 in a thrilling overtime victory on Saturday afternoon.
The Nittany Lions improve to 8-4 overall and 7-2 in the conference.
Haley Miller (Hatfield, Pa.) kicked off the scoring in the 7
th minute when she capitalized off a rebounded shot for her sixth goal of the season to give the Nittany Lions the 1-0 lead.
The Mustangs were held scoreless until the 74
th minute when Ashley Capron netted her 10
th goal of the season to tie the match.
Neither team could break through in regulation or during the first overtime period.
Abington pressed to get the goal in the second overtime period, and fired four shots, but the Nittany Lions earned a late corner and scored the game winner as time expired.
Abington continues its New York road trip when they travel to Cazenovia College tomorrow at noon.
