Nittany Lions defeated in OT against CSE, 96-92

MORRISTOWN, NJ – A late layup from freshman John Ryan (Philadelphia, Pa.) forced overtime against the College of Saint Elizabeth, but the Eagles won a slim victory 96-92 on Saturday afternoon.
Abington falls to 2-3 for the season and 1-1 in the conference.

Freshman Austin Slawter (Philadelphia, Pa.) notched a season high 20 points to lead the Nittany Lions.

In the beginning of the first half both teams battled back-and-forth and the Eagles pulled ahead with a nine point advantage, but a three-ball from Kenny Bey-Brown (Philadelphia, Pa.) cut the lead to two. Slawter then tied the game with five minutes on the clock with his layup. The Eagles took back the lead and held a three point advantage going into the break.

The College of Saint Elizabeth took a 10 point advantage in the second half but the Nittany Lions clawed their way back and tied the game with 13 minutes remaining.  In the final minutes the lead changed hands 14 times but when the clock hit zero both teams were tied at 78 points.

In overtime the Nittany Lions fell behind early and the Eagles put away the game with clutch free throw shooting from the line.

The Nittany Lions will look to rebound when they host Penn College tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
