JENKINTOWN, Pa. – The Penn State Abington baseball team hosted John Jay College and fell to the Bloodhounds 18-7 on Wednesday afternoon.
Abington drops to 11-17 for the season.
The Nittany Lions were on the board first, when
Matt Meyers (Cheltenham, Pa.) drove a single down the left line to score the first run of the game. Sophomore
Dante Millilo (Philadelphia, Pa.) knocked a hard ball through the middle for another two runs in the first inning. Â
Christopher Hartman (Philadelphia, Pa.) smashed another single to give the Nittany Lions the 4-0 lead at the end of the first inning.
John Jay answered with six consecutive runs in the next few innings, but
Max German (Newtown, Pa.) earned a run back with a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning.
Abington kept the game close until the Bloodhounds scored eight runs in the seventh inning to put the game out of reach.
The Nittany Lions will host Gwynedd Mercy University on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
