BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's volleyball team opened conference play with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Keuka College on Saturday evening.
The Nittany Lions improve to 7-2 overall and 1-0 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference.
The Wolves opened the match with a 25-17 win in the first game, but Abington tied the match in the next game with a 25-16 win of its own. Keuka College took the third game in a 25-21 battle to hold a 2-1 edge going into the critical four game. Game four was a back-and-forth battle with 19 lead changes, but the Nittany Lions prevailed with a 29-27 win. The fifth game was just as exciting with a late rally from the Wolves, but the Nittany Lions closed out the match with a 16-14 victory.
Senior
Sam Amaro (Philadelphia, Pa.) shined for Abington with 25 kills in the match, while sophomore
Cori Watson (Harleysville, Pa.) made 23 assists on the evening. Defensively
Maddi Richards (Warminster, Pa.) racked up 22 digs as the libero.
The Nittany Lions will continue NEAC crossover play tomorrow when the face off against Wells College at noon, and Cazenovia College at 2:00 p.m.
