ABINGTON, Pa. – Sophomore
Hernando Villamil (Philadelphia, Pa.) added a late goal to bring his scoring streak to six, in a 3-0 shutout over Gallaudet University on Sunday afternoon.
The Nittany Lions control the conference with a 5-0 record in the NEAC, and a 6-1 mark overall.
It didn't take long for the Nittany Lions to get on the board as senior
Richard Domico (Langhorne, Pa.) headed in a beautiful cross from
Chris Van Pelt (Doylestown, Pa.) in the 4
th minute.
Coming out of half time,
Andrew Costa (Philadelphia, Pa.) netted his first goal of the season when he cut into the box, shook his defender and lined a shot past the keeper.
The Nittany Lions benefited from a handball in the box for a penalty in the 64
th minute. Villamil lined up the penalty and converted to give the Nittany Lions the 3-0 lead.
The clean sheet was threatened in the 81
st minute when the Bison were awarded a penalty, but sophomore goalkeeper
Jose Arroyo (Puerto Rico) stuffed the shot to keep the shutout.
Abington will return to the field when they travel to Bryn Athyn on Saturday September 24, at 3:00 p.m.
