ABINGTON, Pa. – A day after her hat trick against Wilson College,
Michelle Latronica (Philadelphia, Pa.) netted four goals as the Penn State Abington women's soccer team defeated Gallaudet University 7-0 on Sunday afternoon.
Abington improves to 4-3 for the season and 3-2 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference. Over their three game winning streak, the Nittany Lions have outscored their opponents 21-0 to rebound a tough start to the season.
With seven goals in two games Latronica moves into a tie for first place in the NEAC in goals.
Gallaudet held the Nittany Lions in the first twenty minutes, but Latronica broke the stalemate with a free kick that curled inside the right post for the first goal of the game.
Freshman
Haley Miller (Hatfield, Pa.) doubled the Nittany Lions lead when she beat the defender to the touchline and slide a shot between the keeper and the post for her first goal.
In the 43
rd minute Miller struck again for her third goal of the year to give Abington a 3-0 lead going into the break.
The Nittany Lions earned two consecutive penalty kicks both finished by Latronica for her second and third goal, and she finished off her scoring for the day in the 81
st minute to make it 6-0.
Junior defender
Greta Sheridan (Horsham, Pa.) finished off the scoring with her second goal of the season in the 88
th minute.
Abington will host Arcadia University for the final non-conference game of the season on Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.
