ABINGTON, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's volleyball team battled to a 3-2 win over Kings college and earned a 3-1 decision over Brooklyn College on Friday evening.
The Nittany Lions improve to 2-1 for the season.
In the first match the Nittany Lions earned two straight victories 25-21, 25-22 to hold a 2-0 lead over Kings. The Monarchs didn't back down and won the next two games 25-13 and 25-18. Â In the deciding match the Nittany Lions pulled away 15-10 for the final point.
Next Abington faced off againt the Brooklyn College Bulldogs. Again the Nittany Lions came away with two 25-21 wins but couldn't earn the sweep with a 25-17 loss in the third game. The Bull dogs tried to rally and push it to game four, but the Nittany Lions slipped past with a 25-23 decision.
Senior
Sam Amaro (Philadelphia, Pa.) led the attack with 24 points between both games while
Cori Watson (Harleysville, Pa.) racked up 44 assists for the evening. Sophomore
Maddi Richard (Warminster, Pa.) earned 52 digs to aid the Nittany Lions defense.
Abington will travel to Trinity Washington tomorrow afternoon at 4:00 p.m.
