ABINGTON, Pa. – Behind a huge second half, the Penn State Abington men's basketball team cruised to a 91-64 win over the College of Saint Elizabeth in their first conference game of the season, on Tuesday night. Abington moves to 2-2 for the year overall and 1-0 in the NEAC.
Freshman duo
Devin Hill (Philadelphia, PA) and
Jay Fitzgerald (Philadelphia, PA) lit up the scoreboard with Hill leading the team In points scoring 21, and right behind Fitzgerald earned 19 points for the night. On the boards sophomore
Terrance Reese (Philadelphia, PA) scooped 12 rebounds and chipped in 13 points for the double-double.

In the first few minutes of action both teams fought for control of the lead but neither team could sustain the advantage for long. The Nittany Lions began to pull away when Hill and sophomore guard
Quinn DeNofa (Philadelphia, PA) hit back-to-back threes to give them a 14-8 lead with 14 minutes in the game. Abington would go on a 7-2 run to push their lead to double-digits. Hill going 4-of-5 from behind the arch kept the Nittany Lions on top of the Eagles, but the Eagles capitalized at the stripe and hit their free throws to bring the game to 42-35 at the half.

The Nittany Lions suffocated the Eagles in the second half with their defense. The College of Saint Elizabeth struggled from the floor only hitting 2-of-10 shots from three and a weak 28 percent overall in the second half. Abington held a tight lead up until the final 13 minutes of play. Behind clutch shooting from behind the arch, the Nittany Lions blazed on a 24-1 run to take control of the game and put away the Eagles.
