CAZENOVIA, NY –  The Penn State Abington men's basketball team traveled up Cazenovia College, but couldn't come away with the win as they fell to the Wildcats 83-70, on Saturday afternoon. The Nittany Lions finish their season with a 9-16 record overall and 8-12 in the conference.
Â
Senior
Don Sloan (Boothwyn, Pa.) closed his career with 18 points leading the Nittany Lions. Freshman
Austin Slawter (Philadelphia, Pa.) recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds for the day.
Â
The Nittany Lions kept the game close and held a slim lead until the Wildcats went off for a 16-0 run with phenomenal shooting from behind the arc. Â Abington tried to cut the double digit lead before the half, but still trailed 42-28.
Â
In the second half Cazenovia pushed the lead to 20 points but down the stretch the Nittany Lions slowly clawed back. Â A four point swing from Sloan helped the Nittany Lions back to within 12 points, Â but the Wildcats were strong on the boards and held on for the win and their birth to the NEAC playoffs.
Â
The Nittany Lions narrowly miss out on the NEAC playoffs after the loss and Cazenovia, the NEAC fourth seed, takes the head to head matchup. Abington loses the tiebreaker between Bryn Athyn, because of their better conference record among teams in the NEAC North Standings.
