Symantha Marrero (Philadelphia, Pa.) forced a second overtime. A late three-ball for the Chargers held off the upset for the Nittany Lions as they fell 73-70. The Nittany Lions finish the season 12-14 overall and 10-10 in the conference.
In her final game
Madison Kimball (Jenkintown, Pa.) led the Nittany Lions with 20 points and nine rebounds, while sophomore
Shayna Rodriguez chipped in 20 points as well.
In hostile territory, the Nittany Lions struggled in the second quarter which gave the Chargers a 34-23 advantage going into the break.
Momentum shifted in the fourth quarter and the Nittany Lions held the Chargers to only seven points for the quarter and forced seven turnovers. Hayes tied the game when she drove down the court and sunk her finger roll layup with 34 seconds left.
Neither team had much success offensively in the first overtime, but the Chargers held a three point lead with 23 seconds left. Marrero stepped up and drained her three-ball to force another overtime period.
Abington took an early lead in the second overtime, but the Chargers pulled ahead with eight seconds left off a three-ball. Â The Nittany Lions had one more shot to force a third overtime, but their shot didn't fall.
