MYRTLE BEACH, SC - Down 4-0 in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Penn State Abington softball team rallied with three runs but fell just shy. Abington falls to 1-1 after the 4-3 loss to Kings College.
Â
Junior Caitlyn Braiser (Levittown, Pa.) knocked in all of the Nittany Lions runs with her triple. Freshman Sam Goetz (New Egypt, Pa.) was perfect from the plate going 2-of-2 with a walk.
Â
Kings opened the game with a run in the first inning, off a suicide squeeze and later added another run in the third inning. A two run single in the sixth inning gave Kings a 4-0 advantage.
Â
Abington didn't give up in the final inning, with two outs Abington loaded the bases and Braiser drove a ball deep to right center field for a three run triple. Unfortunately the Nittany Lions couldn't drive home the final run to tie the game.
Abington continues its spring break trip on Friday with a 1:30 p.m. game against Laroche College, and later a matchup against Mount Aloysius at 3:30 p.m.
