ABINGTON, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's lacrosse Cinderella season came to a close after an early exit in the NEAC tournament with a heart breaking 9-8 loss to Cazenovia in the semifinal, on Saturday afternoon.

Before the game, the Nittany Lions had five players honored as All-Conference selections, and Noelle Powell was honored as co-coach of the year.  After finishing at the top of the NEAC standings, the Nittany Lions received their NEAC Regular season trophy.

Sophomore Melissa Felicetti (Willow Grove, Pa.) led the charge for the Nittany Lions with four of their eight goals.

Felicetti kicked off the first half with a goal in the first minute of the game, but the Wildcats followed in the next minute with a goal of their own. Playing a man up, the Nittany Lions capitalized on the advantage with another goal from Felicetti, and Alynn Phelan (Philadelphia, Pa.) added to their total. Momentum shifted when the Nittany Lions went down a man three times in the first half, and the Wildcats capitalized to take a 4-3 lead at the half.

Coming out of the break Cazenovia jumped ahead with another two goals before Felicetti could bag another goal. Three goals from Kaitlin Sheppard put the Wildcats in firm control, but Abington clawed back into the game. With 30 seconds to go Sarah Eisele (Langhorne, Pa.) scored to bring the Nittany Lions within one goal to tie the game and send it into overtime. At the draw, Cazenovia won the ball to hold on.

The Nittany Lions finished with their best season in school history at 12-2 for the season, and shattered almost every single team record in the record book.
