Wilson Defeats Abington, 87-82

ABINGTON, Pa – The Penn State Abington men's basketball team were edged by Wilson College 87-82, on Senior Day, Saturday afternoon. In this closely contested game that had eight lead changes, Wilson pulled away late in the game to claim the victory. Abington's record now stands at 7-7 in the NEAC and 9-12 overall.

Freshman Devin Hill (Philadelphia, PA) led the Nittany Lions with 19 points during the game. Freshman Pernell Ghee (Germantown, PA) was second on the team with 18 points and a total of five different Nittany Lions had 10 or more points in this game.

Early in the first half, Ghee stole the ball from a Wilson player and then took to the other end of the court for a fast break dunk that tied the game. Halfway through the first half, sophomore Quinn DeNofa (Philadelphia, PA) landed a big three that gave Abington the lead in this very tight game. Towards the end of the half, sophomore John Ryan spun past several Wilson players down the lane and landed a lay-up in the paint, but Abington still trailed 40-35 at the break.

During halftime, the Penn State Abington athletic department honored Kevin Raymond (Chalfont, PA), Nelson Vargas Costa (Philadelphia, PA), and Kenny Bey-Brown (Philadelphia, PA) on for their years of commitment to the program on Senior Day.

The second half was nothing short of a thriller like the first half. Both team played a very up-tempo game and continued throughout the second half. Ryan once again showed his athleticism as he cuts in the lane and nailed a hard shot underneath the basketball to cut the gap. Abington pressed aggressively with less than one minute left in the game, however that wasn't enough as Wilson came out on top 87-82 over Abington.

The Nittany Lions will be back in action Wednesday night as they host Lancaster Bible College 6:00 p.m. in their Pink Game.
