Nittany Lions Knocked out of NEAC Tournament by LBC

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Penn State Abington men's basketball team faced a tall task by traveling to leaders Lancaster Bible in the NEAC Quarterfinals. After defeating the Chargers earlier this year, the Nittany Lions were unable to pull off the upset for a second time this season, falling to LBC 83-68 on Tuesday night.

Sophomore guard Quinn DeNofa (Philadelphia, PA) led the charge for the Nittany Lions with 19 points, and junior forward Jordan Lomax (West Haven, CT) recorded a double-double scoring 13 points, and scooping 13 rebounds in the effort.

The Chargers came out in the first half looking for revenge, and knocked down two three-pointers on their first two possessions. Abington kept the game close by earning their points in the paint off tough layups.  After an up-tempo 10 minutes of action, the Chargers pushed their lead to double-digits off a turnover that was taken for the dunk.  The Nittany Lions tried to keep pace with the Chargers, by taking advantage of their free-throws, hitting 12-of-16 in the half. Up by 17 points with only a few minutes remaining the Chargers had control of the game, but Abington didn't give up with Jay Fitzgerald (Philadelphia, PA) knocking down a pair of clutch three-balls right before the end of the half.

In the second half the hosts ran out of the second half on a hot 7-2 run to take control once more.  The Chargers were hot shooting from the floor, hitting 54 percent of their shots to help them push the lead to 20 points.  The Nittany Lions continued to push and on a 14-4 run brought the game within 11 points, but that's as close as they would come to the Chargers. Lancaster Bible is off to the NEAC Semifinals after tonight's win.

The Nittany Lions end their productive season with a 10-14 record, and their first NEAC tournament appearance since 2015.
