READING, PA. – Penn State Abington traveled to Penn State Berks for a crucial NEAC matchup, but couldn't upset the hosts in a 4-3 loss on Saturday afternoon. Game two was rained out and has been rescheduled for tomorrow afternoon.
In the first inning Abington rattled the pitcher with
Tyler DiPatri (Pedricktown, NJ) and
Paul Woodley (Levittown, PA) earning RBI walks. Later in the inning
Julio Aira IV (Miami Fla.) drove a deep ball to right field for a sacrifice fly.
Berks chipped away at the lead in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI single through to right field. The hosts continued to cut Abington's lead with sacrifice flies, but in the fifth inning Berks took the lead with a solo home run over the left field wall.
Abington will look for revenge tomorrow when they travel back to reading for game two at 1:00 p.m.
