GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA- The Penn State Abington women's soccer team earned their first win of the season on Tuesday night by defeating opponent Gwynedd Mercy 1-0. The Nittany Lions improve to 1-2-1 overall.
 
Sophomore Christina Kane (Hatboro, PA) struck the only goal of the game that helped the Nittany Lions take the early 1-0 lead in the 23^rd minute. Senior Samantha Friend (Philadelphia, PA) had a stellar performance in between the posts with a season high of 11 saves.
 
The Nittany Lions tested Gwynedd Mercy's goalie with a total of 5 shots on goal . Single shot on goal attempts came from Erica Denshuick (Bensalem, PA) and Haley Miller (Hatfield, PA). Sarah Eisele (Langhorne, PA) also tested the net with two shots, but both were saved.
 
Abington will face Penn State Berks on Saturday September 15 at 1:00 pm for their second conference match of the season.
