Nittany Lions Topple SUNY Poly on Senior Day

ABINGTON, PA. – The Penn State Abington men's soccer team locked up the second seed in the North Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament after a 4-1 win over SUNY Poly on senior day. Abington improves to 10-6 for the season and 8-3 in the conference.

Ed Worthington got the Nittany Lions on the board first when he slotted home a loose ball off a corner kick to give the Nittany Lions a 1-0 lead.  Minutes later junior Sebastian Krystofowicz netted his ninth goal of the season putting the Nittany Lions up 2-0 after 15 minutes of action. Jose Palomeque capped off the scoring in the first half with a goal in the 37th minute to give the Nittany Lions a commanding lead.

In the second half the Wildcats pulled a goal back to try and shift momentum in their favor but Liam Morlin closed the door on SUNY Poly with his first career goal.

Abington will have a bye in the first round, and then travel to host site Penn State Harrisburg to face to winner of SUNY Poly and Keuka College on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.

The Nittany Lions honored Jake Kemery, Justin Hansen, Ed Worthington, Hernando Villamil, Jose Palomeque, Chris Halasa and Matthew Bermeo before the game.  The seniors finished their careers being a part of two NEAC Regular Season Championships, two NEAC Championships, the programs first NCAA Tournament appearance and a 51-23-2 record.
