COBLESKILL, NY- The Penn State Abington women's basketball team wrapped up their conference weekend in New York by falling to SUNY Cobleskill, 74-63. This is Abington's fourth consecutive loss in their last four NEAC competitions. The Nittany Lions drop to 8-6 in conference, and 11-11 overall.
Senior
Shayna Rodriguez (Philadelphia, PA) led the Nittany Lions offense with 28 points, and 7 rebounds. Juniors
Sydney Barrow (Philadelphia, PA) and
Laquana Nagbe (Philadelphia, PA) each had 8 points for Abington.
Angie Tabares (Hackensack, NJ) and
Iman Richmond (Chicago, IL) drained 7 buckets a piece in today's perfromance.
Abington's offense struggled greatly in the first half, by making only 25% of their field goals. The Nittany Lions quickly trailed the Fighting Tigers 26-39 heading into halftime. Cobleskill's 13 point lead stemmed from rebounding and second chance points. The Tigers rebounded the ball 54 times and were allowed 22 second chance points by Abington's defense. In the beginning of the fourth quarter, the Nittany Lions bridged the gap by fighting to a 51-55 differentiation to the Tigers. However, Abington could not compete with Cobleskill's dominate inside posts.
