MORRISVILLE, NY – The Penn State Abington men's basketball team faced off against No. 1 seed Morrisville State, but couldn't pull off the upset in a 80-54 loss in the NEAC Final Four on Saturday afternoon.
The Nittany Lions finish the season with a 14-13 record after earning their second consecutive NEAC Tournament appearance.
Sophomore
Pernell Ghee (Germantown, PA) led the Nittany Lions with 17 points and
Jay Fitzgerald (Philadelphia, PA) followed with 11 points in the effort.
In the first half the Nittany Lions struggled from outside the arc only hitting 3-of-11 (27%) from three.  Abington did a good job defending from the floor only giving up 29 percent from three and went 12-of 31 from the floor. The Mustangs earned their points at the stripe, drawing fouls and hitting 12-of-15 at the free throw line. Abington fell behind in the second half thanks to a 23-7 run for the Mustangs which put the hosts firmly in control. A late three ball from Ghee cut the deficit, but the Mustangs still held a 40-25 lead at the break.
Morrisville State quickly pulled ahead by 20 points and kept up the pace shooting 53 percent from the floor. The Nittany Lions battled but never could overcome the big lead by the Mustangs.
