Men's Basketball Falls to CSE, 79-69

MORRISTOWN, NJ – The Penn State Abington men's basketball team traveled to the College of Saint Elizabeth but couldn't come away with a win, in their 79-69 loss to the Eagles on Tuesday night. Abington falls to 11-9 overall and 8-3 in the conference.

Junior guard Pernell Ghee (Germantown, PA) put up a 23 points and 10 rebounds for the double-double.  Freshman guard Mohamed Mansaray (Philadelphia, PA) earned a career high with 13 points.

The Nittany Lions trailed in the beginning of the first half, but with eight minutes off the clock John Ryan (Warminster, PA) brought the Nittany Lions level with the College of Saint Elizabeth after his layup. In the next possession, Jay Fitzgerald (Philadelphia, PA) gave the Nittany Lions the lead with his three-ball.  Moments later another three-pointer from Fitzgerald pushed the Nittany Lions lead to seven points. Abington held the advantage, but St. Elizabeth rallied back with its clutch shooting from behind the arc.  With 30 seconds remaining, Fitzgerald hit another three-pointer, but the Eagles would cut the lead right before the half with a last second layup.

In the second half the Eagles came out with the hot hand starting with an 11-2 run to pull out in front.  Three consecutive shots from the Eagles Cam Tucker helped the hosts stay out in front of the Nittany Lions. Abington struggled shooting from the floor in the second half, and the Eagles pushed their lead to 15 points with nine minutes left in the game. The Nittany Lions tried to make a late run, but the deficit was too much to overcome.

Abington will continue on the road when they travel to New York on Saturday to face NEAC power SUNY Poly at 1:00 p.m.
