WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Penn State Abington softball team concluded their conference weekend at Gallaudet University on Saturday afternoon by defeating the Bison 4-2 and 21-4. The Nittany Lions are off to a perfect 4-0 start in conference play.

Jackie McMenamin (Oreland, PA) led game one off with a walk and advanced to third after a sacrifice bunt from Samantha Friend (Southampton, PA). Sophomore Stephanie Andreoli drove a deep fly ball out to center field that allowed McMenamin to score and give the Nittany Lions the early 1-0 lead.

In the top of the third inning, the McMenamin and Andreoli duo scored again after McMenamin led off the inning with a single. Andreoli followed with a single up the middle to score McMenamin, and added a run to Abington's 2-0 lead. The Bison were able to tie up the game in the bottom of the 5th 2-2.

Abington's freshmen responded in the top of the 6th with a single from Akia Marshall (Albuquerque, NM), who was later scored by Ryann Rhoades (Philadelphia, PA)'s single up the middle. The Nittany Lions pushed their final run across the plate in the top of the 7th with hits by Samantha Friend, Stephanie Andreoli, and an RBI by Becca Dougherty (Churchville, PA) for the Abington 4-2 win.

In game two, the Nittany Lions offense annihilated the Bison with a 21-3 victory in five innings. Jackie McMenamin led the offense with four RBI's, while Becca Dougherty and Akia Marshall each had 2 RBI's for Abington. Freshman Jailyn Bishop (Philadelphia, PA) went a perfect 2 for 2 at the plate for the Nittany Lions.

Abington will travel to Arcadia University on Tuesday for a double header beginning at 5:00pm.
