UTICA, NY – The Penn State Abington women's lacrosse team faced off against SUNY Poly, but fell to the Wildcats 21-7 on Sunday afternoon. After the loss the Nittany Lions fall to 1-7 and 0-2 in the NEAC.
In the first three minutes of action the Wildcats netted three goals before
Alynn Phelan (Philadelphia, PA) stopped their streak with her first goal of the game. SUNY Poly added another two goals to take a 5-1 lead before
Lauren O'Keeffe (Yardley, PA) and
Jillian Stokes (Mayfair, PA) took advantage of a penalty to pull the Nittany Lions within two after their goals. A nine goal run for the Wildcats put them up 14-3 before Phelan scored her second goal right before the close of the first half.
Freshman
Lillian Diesh (San Carlos, CA) was able to get onto the board in the second half, and Phelan netted another two goals, but it wasn't enough to rally past the Wildcats.
Abington will be back in action when they host Elizabethtown on Thursday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.
