AUBURNDALE, FL – The Penn State Abington baseball team faced off against Trine University and came away with a 6-2 win over the Thunder. The Nittany Lions improve to 5-6 after the win.
On the mound
Darrien Mogel (Reading, PA) had a solid outing with eight innings of work with four strikeouts and only one earned run in the win.
In the first inning the Nittany Lions took advantage of an error by the third baseman to give the Nittany Lions the 1-0 lead. With two runners on
Tyler DiPatri (Pedricktown, NJ) crushed his pitch for an RBI double to push the Nittany Lions lead to 3-0.
The Nittany Lions didn't get back on the board till the seventh inning when freshman
Bobby Grife (Cherry Hill, NJ) earned an RBI single, and later in the inning
Jaden Himmelreich (Temple, PA) added to the lead with his sacrifice RBI.
In the eighth inning Trine earned two runs off an error, but the Nittany Lions added another run in the bottom half of the inning to extend their lead.
Abington will be back in action tomorrow when they face off against Clark University at 9:15 a.m.
