CLARKS SUMMIT, PA- The Penn State Abington men's tennis team competed at the North Eastern Athletic Conference West Division Championship this morning at Birchwood Tennis Club. The Nittany Lions put up a great fight, but were defeated by Lancaster Bible 5-4. Abington will continue in the NEAC individual tournament being held tonight and tomorrow morning.
The Chargers quickly jumped to a 2-0 lead after earning victories at the No. 1 doubles and No. 3 doubles. Duo pair
Ilker Erkut (Philadelphia, PA) and
Jose Palomeque (Upper Dublin, PA) picked up Abington's first point in doubles with a 8-5 defeat at No. 2 doubles to cut the Chargers 2-1 lead heading into singles play.
Abington split their six singles competitions against LBC. The Nittany Lions snatched wins at the top two singles, with wins from
Michael Litz who defeated his opponent 6-0, 6-4 and
Ilker Erkut with a 6-1, 6-1 victory. Freshman
Adam Moskal contributed a point for Abington after a close 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles.
