Levy Named Interim Director Of Athletics, Intramurals And Recreation

ABINGTON, PA – Penn State Abington has announced that Matt Levy will serve as its Interim Director of Athletics, Intramurals and Recreation, effective July 1.

"I'm honored that I was asked to become the Interim Director of Athletics, Intramurals and Recreation and I look forward to continuing to work closely with our coaches, staff, student-athletes and other members of the Penn State Abington community," Levy said.

Levy joined Penn State Abington as its Assistant Athletic Director in October, 2018. During his 20 months with the Nittany Lions, he has helped oversee the department's 13 NCAA Division III intercollegiate teams and the cheerleading club as well as the recreation and intramural programs. His responsibilities have included compliance, facilities scheduling and management, game day administration, lodging and transportation. Levy has chaired or served on search committees for head coaches and has also served on other campus hiring committees.

Under Levy's guidance, the intramural program has more than doubled its offerings and participation numbers. He adapted to the shutdown of the school's facilities due to Covid-19 by offering virtual gaming and trivia intramural opportunities during the spring semester and into the first months of the summer.

Levy was part of the most successful athletic year in Penn State Abington history as three teams (men's soccer, baseball, women's tennis) captured North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) championships and advanced to the NCAA Division III playoffs in 2018-19.

Levy came to Penn State Abington after more than 25 years at Delaware Valley University where he served as Associate Athletic Director and Sports Information Director. He won numerous publication and writing awards from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) during his tenure and had the 2012 yearbook dedicated in his honor by the student body.
