MIDDLETOWN, PA. – The Penn State Abington men's soccer team fought hard against No. 20 Penn State Harrisburg, but were knocked out of the United East Tournament after a 2-0 defeat on Friday night. Abington finishes their season with an 8-7-3 record.
In the first half Harrisburg was first on the board in the 26
th minute when the hosts earned a corner. Jose Palomeque whipped the corner in and found Tyler Madairy at the back post where he volleyed it into the net. Harrisburg controlled the half outshooting Abington 5-1.
After the break Abington earned a penalty kick in the 60
th minute. Sophomore
Michael Thomas stepped up to the spot but was stymied by the keeper Nicholas Guglielmett. Despite being down Abington gave Harrisburg trouble as they pressed for the next goal. Late in the half it looked like Harrisburg would take the lead but
Christian Cardenas cleared the ball off the line and kept the hosts from doubling the lead. In the 88
th minute Harrisburg put the game out of reach when Sebastian Krysztofowiz put the ball into the back of the net to give Harrisburg the 2-0 win.
The Nittany Lions wrap up their season with a bright future for the young squad.
