BRYN MAWR, PA. -Â The Penn State Abington women's volleyball team battled with Bryn Mawr College in a five set thriller but came away empty handed in a 3-2 loss on Friday night. Abington falls to 5-6 for the season after the defeat by the Owls.

Jenny McAnaney recorded a double-double with 22 kills and 17 digs for the Nittany Lions and sophomore
Emma de Mey had a double-double of her own with 29 digs and 13 kills.
In the first set the Owls rallied from behind to pull ahead of the Nittany Lions and held a slight lead over the visitors. Up 21-20 the Owls put away the Nittany Lions with a 4-1 run to win the first set of the match.
Abington battled with the Owls in the second set and held a slim margin over Bryn Mawr throughout the entire set for a 25-21 win of their own to tie the match.
In the third set Abington came out with momentum and pulled ahead early up 16-5 thanks to their effective attack earning a .324 attack percent. The Nittany Lions pulled ahead after earning a 25-16 decision over the hosts to lead 2-1.Â
In the fourth set Bryn Mawr continued to fight and stole momentum from the Nittany Lions thanks to an 8-1 run. Abington couldn't rally to seal the match and Bryn Mawr took the fourth set 25-17 to tie the match again at 2-2. Â
The Owls continued their hot streak into the final set and looked to clinch the match. Abington continued to fight being down 14-8, eventually coming within a point of the hosts but the Owls escaped with a 15-13 win in the fifth set to clinch the match.
Abington will look to rebound when they travel to Arcadia tomorrow for a tri-match against Rosemont College and Arcadia at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
