Nittany Lions kick off season with 2-0 Shutout of Bryn Athyn

BRYN ATHYN, PA – In the first game of the season the Penn State Abington men's soccer team took home a 2-0 win over Bryn Athyn on Friday night.

Eight freshman started for the Nittany Lions but the lack of experience didn't slow them down. Defensively the Nittany Lions only allowed four shots the entire game and only two on target.  In the attack Abington fired 20 shots and gave the goalkeeper a tough night, having to make eight shots with 12 on target.

In the first half, freshman Elijo Agollo and Jovanny Trinidad were able to make a connection with Trinidad slotting home the first goal of the game in the 37th minute. Abington kept firing on the goal but the Lions Keeper did well to save their shots.

The Nittany Lions took advantage of a foul in the box, and freshman Brian Gibson stepped up to the spot and fired it into the net for his first collegiate goal. Abington were unlucky to not add to their total after another shot hit the woodwork, but the Nittany Lions were never under pressure to close the game.

Abington will return to action when they travel to Neumann University on Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.
