Penn State Abington fell on the road to St. Mary's College of Maryland, 79-65 in, a United East Conference men's basketball match-up.
The Seahawks (8-5, 7-0) got off to a hot start thanks to a pair of three-pointers from Daryn Alexander and Isaiah Eggleston during the first few minutes of action. The six-point lead created by those shots from St. Mary's was a gap the Nittany Lions (8-9, 2-6) could not overcome. Both teams shot better than 50 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes, but 13 Penn State Abington turnovers resulted in 24 points and an 11-point deficit at the break. The Seahawks upped the lead to as many in 25 before a late Nittany Lion rally closed the gap to 14.
Penn State Abington forward
Zack Semmler was perfect on his first five shots of the game, including a pair of treys, and missed just one all night to finish with 12 points.
Brian Randolph III led the way with 13 points alongside a team-high 11 rebounds.
Alex Podolski had 12 points on 50 percent shooting for the Nittany Lions.
The Seahawks, who shot 54 percent from the field, had six players in double digits, with Eggleston leading the way with 17 points, making four of his seven attempts from deep.
The Nittany Lions are back in action tomorrow afternoon at Gallaudet University before returning home to battle Penn State Berks on Tuesday night.
