Abington Drops Non-Conference Tilt to Ursinus

Abington, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's soccer team dropped its final non-conference contest of the season falling to Ursinus College, 3-0, on Wednesday afternoon at Memorial Field.

How It Happened
 
* In the 23rd minute of the first half, Ursinus' Sophia Lutz scored the first of three goals over an 18-minute span for the Bears.  It marked her first of the season.
 
* Later in the half, Liv Morrow doubled the Bears' lead with her first goal of the season in the 37th minute.  Less than three minutes later, Morrow struck again to make the score 3-0.  It was Morrow's first two goals of the season.

* Freshman goalkeeper Rachel Wilfrid recorded 10 saves in net for the Nittany Lions.
 
* Sophomore Madison McDowell recorded four shots to lead Abington with one on-goal.
 
* For Ursinus, Kaela Frenchman and Maddie Nau split duty in net to record a combined shutout.
 
* The Bears outshot Abington, 30-7, for the game with 20 shots coming in the second half.  Ursinus also had an 8-1 edge on corner kick attempts with six in the second half. 
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the fourth meeting between Abington and Ursinus since the start of the 2012 season and the first since 2014.  The Nittany Lions are now 0-4-0 versus the Bears in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 22 as the Nittany Lions travel to face Penn College in a United East Conference contest.  Game time is set for 1 p.m.
