Abington Edged by St. Mary’s in United East Semifinals, 2-1

St. Mary's City, Md. – The Penn State Abington men's soccer team saw its season come to an end after a heart-breaking setback at top-seeded St. Mary's College in the United East Conference (UEC) semifinals on Saturday evening at Jamie L. Roberts Stadium.  The Seahawks defeated the Nittany Lions, 2-1, in overtime.

How It Happened
 
* Bado had the goal of the year for Abington as he came through with the game-tying score in the 87th minute to force overtime.  Sophomore JT Stone, on a throw in from the far-right side, found the inside of the box score where Bado finished with a bicycle kick shot towards the lower-left part of the net for the score.
 
* After a scoreless first overtime period, St. Mary's scored the eventual game-winner in the opening minute of the second overtime.  Alex Ochman gave the Seahawks a 2-1 lead in the 101st minute. 
 
* Abington kept the pressure on St. Mary's in the second overtime period as the Nittany Lions registered five shots in hopes of tying the game once more and forcing a penalty kick shootout. 
 
* St. Mary's scored the game's first goal in the 78th minute to break the scoreless tie.  Elliot Hodges came up with the unassisted score.

* Bado's goal in the 87th minute marked his 11th of the season which is tied for fifth-most in program history. 
 
* Junior Matt Sheldon recorded seven saves in net for the Nittany Lions, including two key stops in the first overtime period.  Sheldon finished the season with 78 saves; third-most in the program's record book. 
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the fifth meeting between Abington and St. Mary's since the start of the 2015 season. The Nittany Lions are now 0-5-0 versus the Seahawks in the all-time series.
 
Abington in the Postseason
The Nittany Lions were appearing in their ninth United East (formerly NEAC) Tournament and sixth straight.  Abington is now 8-6-1 in the conference tournament.
