Penn State Abington Women's Tennis Opens Spring With Setback At Kean

UNION, NJ – The Penn State Abington women's team began the spring portion of its schedule with a 9-0 non-conference setback at Kean University.

The Nittany Lions (0-3) nearly picked up a point at number three singles as Tinatin Sadzaglishvili was in a battle with Jan Bayanin. Sadzaglishvili won the opening set, 6-1, before Bayanin took a second set tiebreaker to force a final set that was determined by a 10-point tiebreaker. Bayanin came out with a 10-5 score in that set.

Also playing their first collegiate matches were the sophomore tandem of Melissa Flood and Taylor LaPage at third doubles. They won four games in an 8-4 setback.

Michelle Ly won three games at first singles while Emina Mulaosmanovic took two at the second singles flight.

Penn State Abington will be back in action less that 24 hours when it travels to Moravian University for a 1 pm match on Saturday. With inclement weather in the forecast, the match will be indoor on the lower level of Johnston Hall.
